# Cultures Section

In this section of the configuration.json file (located in the **Custom** folder), you can set up the configuration for select language control.![](https://cdn.document360.io/c315c68d-2799-4fcc-9a39-084315b58f14/Images/Documentation/image-1674023401570.png)

The Cultures section has the following configuration options:

- CultureNames – the list of languages that are supported by the application. Items should be specified in the following format:  
"<language_culture_name>": "<localized_language_title>"
- DefaultCulture – culture name of the language that is used by default. If not specified, "en-US" will be used.![](https://cdn.document360.io/c315c68d-2799-4fcc-9a39-084315b58f14/Images/Documentation/image-1674023429898.png)

The culture also defines the date format for date fields on Candidate Self-Service pages.
