# Competency Importance

The competencies' relative importance can be defined when [assigning competencies to the job roles](/v1/docs/job-competencies). Please note that the competency importance is specified for the information purposes only and doesn't influence any calculations.

Follow these steps to define the competency importance scale:

1. Go to **Settings > Settings and Configuration > Performance**.

3. List the levels to be used for evaluating the competency importance for the job roles. Use any convenient format for the levels. Each level must start from a new line.
